The first time I played Morrowind, I felt like penetrating in a world living by itself. The beauty of the landscapes. The water. The sunset. The day and night cycle. The atmosphere. And the incredible freedom to do whatever you wanted to do.

I remember to have travelled by foot in many areas I wasn’t supposed to go. I don’t think I even started the main story. I was exploring forests and swamps, invading houses, discovering secret caves, gathering plants, stealing furnitures and trying to sell them. It was a magical experience.
However, I never finished the game. Never progressed very far. Something was missing. I felt lonely in this gigantisc world. I craved for friends to play with and explore together every piece of land.

- If only Morrowind could me a MMO!, I though back then.

Same thing happened with Skyrim. When I started to play it, the experience was amazing. It felt so right, it was so immersive! I enjoyed some quest and stories like I never enjoyed any quest in a game. It was thrilling, because I could solve the quest the way I wanted and this made my character almost a living person with her own emotions and personality!
But then again, after one or two weeks, the loneliness prevailed. I just could not stand to be only by myself in those cold landscapes, and when my companion died, I never managed to get back in the game.

- If only Skyrim could be a MMO, it would be perfect!

(If you care, you can read this article I wrote about Skyrim for +1Internets when I firstly started to play it)

And indeed, back in 2004, before the release of World of Warcraft, I was hoping to play a MMO “like Morrowind”. A game that would let me explore the world freely without level constraints or separated by zones. A land in the virtual universe that would take me several real hours to cross, weeks to discover all secrets. A game where my abilities were gained as I used them, where I could forge my character as I was playing it. I was dreaming for a game that would be a virtual world where to experiment another life…

I was dreaming for The Elder Scroll Online to be true.

Then World of Warcraft had been released and I played it for years. Enough to get used to this sort of game with fences keeping you in the right track, and where freedom is ripped away from players patches after patches. It became the standart for every MMO, and I never though my dreamed game could ever be develloped.

When I first heard the announce of The Elder Scroll Online, it was no joy nor exitement, however. I had just known several disapointement with StarWars The Old Republic and Tera and my confidence had been shaked. I dubted that a studio would ever manage to capture the amazing and unique feeling that a ElderScroll Games give to its players. I was scared like many others, that The Elder Scroll Online would be a rather generic game in Tamriel. To follow the cliche, I was affraid it would be “World of ElderScroll”

Step by step, I’ve been convinced otherwise. Listening to devellopers interviews, fans podcast, reading articles, and following news in the gaming press, I believe that there is a true intention to keep TESO faithful to the Elder Scroll franchise. And I start to believe that TESO might be the MMO I’ve always been dreaming about.

Now, I’m not fooling myself, I know that no MMO would allow players as much freedom as the solo games. I know that there will be restrictions. I’m keeping a cool head, and I’ll see by myself once I can get my hands on the game. And if it’s not as good as I was hoping for, it will not a big deal. I’m enjoying every minutes of my gametime in Guild Wars 2, I don’t think I’d be disapointed to stick with that game.

But…I still hope. And more informations about the game are released, more confident I’m. TESO seems to get the best of many games. Skill and abilities progression in the lines of The Secret World Ability Wheel, but allowing even more freedom. Combat hybrid between Skyrim and Guild Wars 2, with a combo system and the new Finess, rewarding skilled players. World PVP separated from leveling areas but accessible from the start. Free and dynamic quest entierly voice acted like, choices that have an impact on the game and your personal progression. Raids, Open Dungeon, World bosses, lands to explore, secrets to discover, heavy lore.

I honnestly believe TESO will be a great game, an amazing experience to share with friends, and I’m starting to itch to prepare a community, a serious guild project for this. Keep in touch, you will hear more very soon.

TEAM GREEN

It was a bright and sunny day in Lion’s Arch when TEAM GREEN gathered to start their adventure. The crowds were cheering, ale was flowing, parents wanted us to touch their newborns to give them luck, pretty much our usual fare.

Then the Fates gathered to decide where our journey would begin. Would it be the icy plains of Shiverpeaks? The stark landscapes of Ashford? Nobody knows what they said among themselves that day, but in the end, in a barely heard whisper, they announced their verdict: “You shall go to Caledon Forest!”

So off we went, through the strange device that is the Asura Gate. After a short walk through Telkana’s (Kiti) home city, The Grove, we stepped in what was to be our trial grounds for the rest of the day.

There, we would encounter the native wildlife of the Maguuma Jungle such as giant mosquitoes, nasty spiders, trolls and jaguars, but also some intruders trying to corrupt or destroy it : the members of the Nightmare Court, and the risen hordes of Zhaitan.

It all went fine at first, we ran around swatting mosquitoes, burning risen weaklings, squashing spiders in their nests. We burrowed in some tunnels beneath the trolls’ home to find some burried treasures after jumping from log to huge mushroom caps. We even found some strange artifacts called “Continue Coin” there! Unfortunately, those do not work except in the wild dreams of a few.

Methodically, we went around helping people (which were just sitting there doing nothing, or maybe working on the Thank You letter they would send us later), running from place to place. We killed a Champion Risen Hylek, infiltrated a training camp of the Nightmare Court to ruin their efforts, helped a secluded Sylvari defend his garden from corruption.

And then, we ran into the Krait Witch.

We could have turned our backs on this dangerous foe of course. But here she was, laying waste to a village of hyleks that were already struggling against waves of invading kraits, we just had to help!

It was a close call for most of us, we saw death loom many times. In the end, we prevailed and saved the day.

But one of us didn’t get up.

Shizuko’s (Nuithari) body lay there, TEAM GREEN was down to four.

Dear hyleks, next time, you’re on your own.

- Summary written by Ramagh

“As we ventured through the Caledon forest for a few succesfull hours our confidence thrived to new reached heights and at last we we’re foolish enough to come to the defence of the Hylek and to engage the Krait Witch in battle. Allthough at first this too seemed an easy battle for the five of us, before I knew it Shizuko and Rrrama where badly injured as the witch pulled them to her with her poisonous whip. Unfortunatly it was too late for Shizuko when I reached them, but we we’re able to save Rrrama and after a draining battle we managed to kill the witch that had slain our beloved friend…
May the pale tree guide you in the plains beyond, Shizuko.”

TEAM GOLD

TEAM GOLD was assigned to the Wayfarer Foothills and with three members of the party being Norn, it all seemed to make sense. Therefore, it was Svanir, enraged minotaurs and the Molten Legion that Nether, Kantrell, Imo, Raonall and Elloa would have to face.

At first they encountered few difficulties, aside from the portals that spawned waves of Molten Dredge and Charr that they had to be cautious of. Some members went down, reminding them that a simple mistake, a step in the wrong place could cost them their life and their place in the adventure.

Everything was going just fine, until they decided to venture in the Maw. The Maw is a deadly trap, a cave infested by frozen wyrms and they were well aware of its dangers. Carefully, they descended into the frozen lair, killing methodically every creature they encountered. Unfortunately, in the deepth of the cave, they got caught between several wyrms, and were brought down, one after the other, the ones standing frantically trying to save the injuried. Though, Elloa was rescued in time, Kantrel and Nether died, before they could be saved. The remaining members had no other choice other than to run out from the cave, leaving the bodies of their friends behind.

Only one hour after the game started, and TEAM GOLD had already lost two members, leaving the dejected three surviving Norns to continue their adventure.

After the dramatic events in the ice cave, the members left filled with more caution while still not shying away from danger they now sometimes avoided a fight. Other times, when they decided to take the risk, they fought methodically, sticking close to one another, even participating in the defeat of the Grand Shaman and his horde of Ice Elementals.

The Shiverpeaks are a hostile land and it has proven deadly for the foreigners.

-Summary by Elloa&Raonall

TEAM BLUE

Team Blue was the lucky team from the beginning. It all started with the random generator to chose the map where blue has the luxury to chose the map they want.

We decided to go for Queensdale for several reasons like alot of bags dropping, not any specific danger …… we taught but the main reason because it’s a flat area.

Team Blue has from the beginning a player in their ranks where everyone taught he would be the first to die especially when there are cliffs around because he has a habit of fooling around pushing boundaries. So we decided to prove everyone wrong and protect our dear member as much as we can, in this case it was obvious to avoid any heights.

We started the map and within the first 5 minutes we decide to push our luck again. We went to a cave to fight a champion inside.

How careful we were in the beginning of choosing the right map we couldn’t started anywhere more dangerous.

We fighted the champion on top of a structure with cliffs around us where the smallest mistake has only one outcome : dead

We managed the fight but our warrior (Meriad) has looked deep in the eyes of Mr Dead himself and only with some great teamwork we managed to keep him at our side.

So we continued our journey loaded with full adrenaline and we all had the feeling luck will never leave us.

Until we toke on some bandits and there leader where we wanted to kill him and steal his skills. We handled the leader and his 2 bodyguards fine, our thief (Ignor) was caught by them but no worries even if he was close to death we still could permit us everything because we are the lucky team.

Suddenly a group of bandits steps out of the darkness and surprised us. The first time in the evening the words ‘flee’ ‘retreat’ echoes trough the sky.

Our Guardian Kaaelyn was right on top where the bandits entered. The bandits putted him on fire and he went down. His teammates saw it and together they tried to help him up again but the second attack of the group was too deadly so he was lost.

Was it bad luck? Was our guardian pushing his luck too far? We will never know. The only thing we knew was that Lady Luck left our side so we adventured further but this time we carried the burden of death but above all we didn’t feel us the lucky team anymore.

- Summary by Kaaelyn

Hello everyone,

Most people are aware of the challenge Ironman and this has been achieved in various games by many players, the basic premise being, to level a character as far as possible without dying. Some additional rules can also be added to spice up the difficulty, such as restricting equipment or skills.

One day we decided to organise a similar event in our guild. For the players that wished to take part the principle was simple; for all to level a new character together without dying, with the death of a character resulting in it being deleted and the player eliminated from the challenge. From this basic idea it quickly evolved into something bigger.

Firstly, we had many more members interested that we anticipated. Instead of having one small group, we would have three full teams. Secondly, we wanted to stream this as a series of events, offering an exiting show that would allow viewers to interact in some way. A sort of survivalist reality show in Guild Wars 2!

Team roster:

We successfully gathered a team of players that want to play League of Legends on serious base and get good at e-sports. We had “Wreck aka” as top player, “Hawton” as our mid player and “Dr Delgado” as ad carry. “Riku05” has changed his name to “SynpoSiS” – that’s our jungler. I am playing support role. After week of hard practice we decided to change our top lane. We were looking for over average players and unfortunately Wreck couldn’t play as we wanted to. We have no time to help him to get better as we aiming for pro league by the end of this season. Now we will have “a Health Potion” as a top player. Haven’t seen him in action yet I hope he will perform good and we will have no trouble establishing connection with him and his play stile. It’s always hard to disband someone, especially If that person wasn’t bad. We just never had time to train him to our level at least.

So team roster at this time looks like :

A Health Potion – top player

Hawton – AP carry, mid player

SynpoSiS – jungler

Dr Delgado – AD carry

Imortist – support.

Training:

We’re currently working on establishing training schedule. We’re all living in different time zones and sometimes it’s hard to find time that would suit everyone. We had 3 training evenings as a team and so far we had 8-12 games with 2-3 lose. We have good communication and that’s great. Sometimes it’s hard to connect with the team but during the game we are concentrated and work as one mechanism. Everyone tries their best to help each other and to complete global objectives. Right now the aim is on communication. We’re planning to start developing team compositions that would bring us to the win of the game. It’s still hard because team has changed a bit and now we need to get to know our to planer a bit better. I hope that there will be no problems. There are some communication issues though. We love to trash talk a lot. This problem we’re aiming to solve. The goal is to have silent chat where people will call for misses or ganks and that’s it. That’s not that hard, so I hope we will get through that really fast. Another problem we need to work on is our early game. We always loose early game and then turn the game to our favor. This is just a matter of practice on playing safe and we already have a way to encourage that. I feel like we are ready to start playing rankeds soon enough.

To do list:

Establish schedule for trainings

Work on mistakes and search for new ones.

Get more champions and develop synergies for them

My opinion on the team

We have done a lot and we still need to do a lot. But with the current team we can get to pro league. We need to work hard and we will work hard. I love that we are international team and have players from different sides of the world, although that brings problems with training time. I really enjoy playing with these guys and hope that we will be able to perform some nice tactics and win some respect. I hope that over the time we will not forget that it’s only a game and we must enjoy it. That was our main goal at the very beginning.

We had some promotions and titles earned in Mist Angels. Here is a summary of our latest special events.
Baby Fractals

The Baby Fractals event had lot of success! We had three parties of 5 members participating to the challenge: finishing a full Fractal run with lvl 10 characters. Most of players also choose a class they weren’t accustomed to. Everyone seemed to have lots of fun trying to accomplish this challenge.

Asura Krewe: Ramagh & Roanall, Elementalist ; Tundar, Necromancer ; Kiti, Engineer and Elloa, Thief

Fractals: Urban Battlegrounds, Snowblind, Underground Facility.

The Asura Kewe encountered difficulties at the first boss. Indeed, the real level of the characters, and the group composition made the party very squishy. Several wipes had been neccessary to be able to kite the boss correctly, and to finish it. The fight was very challenging and very fun.

The second fractal didn’t caused any major difficulties. Of course Tundar had to fall off a Cliff for his Tundar Moment!

The last fractal was the dredge one, and this went very very hard without any heavy armored player. Utilizing twisted tactics, the group managed to get to the last boss. However, the Ice Elemental resisted the multiple assault of the Krewe. The team used different tactics, but all went unsuccesful. The asura had to admit their defeat, and teleproted back to the Lab without having finished the Fractals. The Team didin’t earned its tile.

The two other team wet a lot more succesful and the 10 players earned their fancy title “Baby Fractal”

Forest Team: Nuithari & Max, Necromancer ; Imo, Elementalist ; Zan, Ranger ; Dawg, Thief

Fractals: Uncategorized, Aquatic Ruins, Swampland

“Team Forest struggled but persevered! Halfway through the first Fractal, with the Raving Asura, Max had severe connection problems. We decided to go on, but we failed miserably (BOOBS all around…) After a couple of tries, we decided to wait for max, but everytime he got back, he dc’ed shortly after. So we did the only sensible thing we could do… We danced! After that, we nailed it! Raving Asura with 4x lvl 10? CHECK!

Off to the next one then, the underwater Fractal. Most people didn’t have anywater skills unlocked. But it went fine actually. And Max got to join us for the major part!

The last challenge was swamp. We had Salomol join in on his lvl9 for this one as Max kept having dc problems. The worst part? Killing our family, our brother, our Own! I’m sorry Bloomhunger… But you stood in our way… RIP little Tree.

So yeah, we weren’t the fastest, but we were the funniest And we did it with 4.3 people!”

-Nuithari

FuryTeam: Symphy, Warrior ; Nether, Mesmer ; Spsnyder, Elementalist ; Insane, Necromancer ; Ignore, Guardian.

Fractals: Cliffside, Urban Battlegrounds, Aquatic Ruins

“Our team started an hour after the first two teams since we needed to lvl up people’s alts. We managed to get inside fractals around 11pm. We had four lvl 10′s and one lvl 9.

The first fractal was giant collossus (wich happens to be my favourite one) so before we started I explained the tactics a bit – more was not needed since the guys understood everything and did an awsome job. We had enormous luck on the end boss because he glitched and we had 3 hits for free (aka the boss was in sleep mode) so it was over fast.

The second fractal was Ascalon, we did it without real problems. Again we had luck with the NPC’s that endured almost to the very end and provided that extra dps.

The final fractal was Aquatic ruins (jellyfish) and here the real fun started. I was going “woohooo this is easy” on TS when we loaded in but after 10s I went “ffs I don’t have any underwater skills”. So you can imagine the laughs we had when we realized we all have 1 or maybe 2 skills on only one weapon. We had some problems with the krait but we managed to pull through, we were again lucky on the lights part wich is waaay easier then the dolphins (for me at least) and killed the jelly in a jiffy.”

-Ignore

Second Duel evening

Kaaelyn is organising now and then a Duel evening. Every participant gather in a SPVP server, and engage each others in a serie of duel. For that second evening, ten player participated: Dawg – Syaark – Meriad – Rhamag- Kaaelyn – Lord Ashenriver – Salamol – Max -Tundar -Emperial.

Everoyne, except Emperial, competed each others for 9 matches, while Ramagh was improving the experience with Final Fantasy musics, and funeral speechs.

Salamol: 7 wins/1draw/1loss

Max (cain kingslayer): 7 wins/1draw/1loss

Syaark : 6 wins/1draw/2loss

Kaaelyn (lady levynia): 6 wins/1draw/2loss

After the final duels, we ended with the following ranking:

Salamol

Max

Kaaelyn

Salamol is keeping his title “Expert Duelist”

Tundar’s Surprise Promotion Ceremony

Tundar is our callifornian boy, one of the few American that have choosen Mist Angels as home, and participate to all our event despite the 8 hours of difference. Lately, he had been unfortunate enough to have his account hacked and his character deleted.

Instead of being discouraged, stop playing, whinning, or spamming Arenanet until they give him back his character, he didn’t gave up and imediatly started to level the same character as fast as possible to not miss our events and guild activities.

Lot of members fond that such dedication needed to be encouraged, and Tundar deserved some help. In addition we didn’t wanted to wait for the next Promotion ceremony to promote him member. Therefor, we ploted to make him a surprise.

The event was disguised into a Jumping Puzzle Race between Tundar and Elloa, as both are known for being bad at jumping, and excellent at falling.

Ramagh prepared some fancy rules: both players had to use tonics (Princess Doll and Charr Soldier) to accomplish two jumping Puzzle in Lion’Arch. The guild members that had been warned by private message gathered at the end of the Pirate Puzzle to greet Tundar.

Tundar won the race, a little bit helped by the presence of Emperial, using his light spell to jump in the dark. But that wouldn’t have changed much the course of action as Elloa had been blocked on the first puzzle, and then got lost in the halls of the second.

Once every were gathered in the grotto, we celebrated the new member of Mist Angels!

The ThunderKing is coming! And he is making his come back from death in a raid that remind the maginficent of Ulduar in Wrath of the Lych King. Four wings, twelve bosses, and an optional secret encounter ” à la” Algalon only unlocked in hardmode. Are you hyped? Are you enthousiast? Do you suddendly feel a urge to get your character and your guild ready? Cause, I certainly am, impatient to put my Goblin feet into this new dungeon, and keep my friends alive through the antique rooms filled with Trolls, Mogu and other monstruous beasts that we will encounter until we face the ThunderKing himself!

Ulduar had certainly be my best experience as a raider. It has been the first time in my WOW career that I was in a stable guild, ready and prepared for a new tiers of content right before it has been released. We went, saw and vanquished the first bosses the very first day, while many other guilds didn’t even managed to log into the instance.

Ulduar was a great raid. The atmosphere had something mysterious, magical and dramatic that I never saw anywhere else. The bosses encounters, how we could twist them into hardmode, all of this was well made, polished, interesting, exiting! I remember you Thorim! And Freya! And Yog Saaron madness! My best memories as a player lie in Ulduar. After all, I didn’t only killed bosses, I also fall in love there…

Since then, I never managed to live a similar experience. And I’ve always been craving for it. When I stopped World of Warcraft in early Cataclysm, it was the disapointement to not be able to live again such a exiting raiding experience more than boredom. Same reasons refrained me to buy Pandaria at release.

But today, I’ve a slight hope… I’m not exactly ready. Our guild, PRIME of Dawn, is not entierly prepared. But this Thunderking raid seem like a place where I’ll be happy to spent many hours many evenings every week! I’ll gladly die, and die and die again for the pleasure of a first kill. Nothing is sweater than the victory of a bosses down for the first time after have work very very hard to get him! I feel my ambition rising in my gamer hearth! I will want to do this, and to do it well, and if my goblin is poorly dressed, my will and my envy are strong!

What got me that much enthousiastic is the reading of all bosses encounters on the offical blog. I’ve always be a fan of the Troll lore, and of all Troll instances. Zul’Gurub and Zul’Aman had been my favourite raids for a long time! Zul’Drak was my favourite WOTLK zone. I’ll be so happy to face the “Council of the Elders” gathering the leaders of all Troll nations!

The Forgotten Depth wing seems to bring back memories of Zul’Farak and Maraudon, while the Twin Counsor and the (almost) final fight with the ThunderKing seems like something of great epicness and complexity!

There is many things I really dislike in World of Warcraft. I strongly disagree with the direction the game toke since WOTLK, especially the harm that had been done to the community and the massive nerfs that had been made to catter the slakers! (Common mistake is to think casual = slacker. It’s not true. Casual are players that can’t play often. But they also do enjoy challenges and difficulties. Slakers just enjoy to get free loot)

However, one can be certain that World of Warcraft will always bring exiting, new and fun encounters, well polished bosses, interesting fights, different mechanics that will challenge your group play.

I play World of Warcraft for two reasons today. Nostalgia bring me back. Heh, I’ve spent six years of my life in Azeroth, I’ve met friends and my partener in life! But it’s raids I’m craving for! Long nights spendt on voicechat, doing my best to keep everyone alive while avoiding fire, thunder and storm! And finaly a victory!

So ThunderKing, beware! Elloa – the – goblin is going to kill you with her 24 friends!

For the 4th Ceremony, Mist Angels gathered in Hearth of the Mist and selected a server to invade. The hardship the selected recruits would have to endure to be finaly promoted as true members of Mist Angels was different than usual, as the players would have to prove their worth in combat. They had to won a serie of three duels!

Standing in the middle of the arena, the recruits could be challenged by any other members. Everyone else stood in circle arround, or sitting on walls, out of reach of pets, turrets and other illusions.

We had been witnesses of some pretty fight! We may not brag about it, but we do have some good pvpers in our guild!

Each battleground ended in a chaotic fight between everyone. Was a pure moment of anarchy! Most fun was to find some random that managed to get in, and revenge on them if they had tried to disturb our event.

Each of our recruit managed to win three duel. Not on the first try, hopefully!

Congratulations to Donderken, Max, Roanall and Salamol!

Additional congratulations for Kaaelyn, that had been choosen as 7th Council member by the Council after the ceremony.
Do not forget to check the past broadcast of the event on TwichTV
